Someone’s been eating my porridge!
2006, 30cm x 37cm, charcoal on paper
el patito feo
2005, 70cm x 100cm, oil on canvas
The most wonderful woman loved me more than anyone else ever has, but at the time I was incapable of accepting her affection. I hurt her badly.
I painted el patito feo as sort of an apology to her. Kind of a penance.
The ugly duckling will eventually return to the world all that it stole from her.
half a year in Torekov
The following pieces were painted between March and October 2009 *, in Torekov, a small coastal town in the municipality of Båstad, located in the south-west of Sweden. While I wouldn’t have admitted to it at the time, I moved to Torekov for the love. However, I was only to find that I didn’t want the love, and that the love didn’t want me.
Besides the love there was also the prospect of money. I wanted the money, and as it turned out – the money wanted me.
I had a show at Galleri Don Clarre, with motifs mainly from the area, and it was successful. I regret not getting images of all the paintings. What you see here is what I have.
The highlight of that whole summer was working with up and coming megastar Cirsten Dohrmann. Lots of character and loads of energy; still at only six years old she gave me quite a few (very-) live sittings.
* ”NO JAG” was painted during the summer of 2008.
